Chris came by with his 2/3 scale Triumph tank he built. Narrowed, Shortened, and rubber mounted. All while retaining the knee dents and stock badges. This thing's gonna be too cool for school...

August in Phoenix is one of the most painful months of the year as far as the heat goes. Which makes the fact that there were like 3 seperate cars shows and a few other music events going on all on one day, in the middle of the summer kind of crazy. Saturday was the little lady's birthday so she picked the agenda for the evening. First stop was the Low and Slow car show/exibit at the Phoenix Art Museum, then downtown for some dinner and finally down to Tempe to the Yucca Tap Room to the Hashknife Outfit cd release show. I don't do "party pics" really so here's a few shots from the lowrider show.

On the Chopcult site the other day and found this killer shot on Cycle Zombie Scott's profile and he was kind enough to let me post it here. Though I don't Know the Stopnik's personally, I am very familiar with the bitchin machines they build and ride. All top notch, and period perfect.
Not to mention the Bitchin Cycle Zombie Blog you can check out here http://www.czombieblog.com/
The fact that it is a family affair makes the whole thing that much cooler.
The first pic is Scott's and the others I shot at various shows
What year was this taken?

I went down to Revoler the other day to sell some records and ended up coming out of there with this bad mamajama. My question is; Why was this album still in the bin for me to buy it? Why had nobody swooped it up? The cover is awesome beyond words and the filthy, nasty contents of the vinyl does not disappoint. Think James Brown on a PCP bing with no holds barred. Genius...
and it was only $6.99

It's not new, but lately I've been focusing more on my love for seventies drag styling. And a little bit o lady parts never hurts either.

There is a guy here in Phoenix that drives a 70s/80s panel van that is totally covered in an ever evolving mural. I have seen this van all over town since moving to AZ in 2001. Well it turns out the guy that owns the van is a guy named Ross, just Ross, and he has had the van for 30 years, and been livin in the valley for about 15 years. He recently came into the shop with his portfolio of photos that dates back as early as 1956! It turns out that in addition to doing realism and murals, Ross is a hell of a pinstriper and tank art master. I haven't got to know him too well yet, but some of the bio facts I do have put Ross in the role of tattoo artist, former cop, carnie sign painter, and automotive enthusiast in general. Here's a bunch of the photos he was kind enough to let me borrow and scan, more to come later...
Pretty wild shit for 1965!

Yesterday I started stripping the paint off of the valve covers I'm putting on the Riviera.
It makes me wonder what they used to be on, there is a couple thick layers of yellow under a thick layer of black. I used a tire tread depth gauge to compare the one I had stripped against the one I haven't got to. There is 1/16" of paint on these things, maybe a little overkill.
